My rings

All rings I made so far, just fisished. Three.
They can't compete with professional made ones, but anyway, I'm rather happy with them. :)
If I had more wire, I'd make more (and more) such rings.

And I will... I will buy some and I will make more.

The second ring

This is the second ring I made. I think it's the best so far.
I had one old and not pretty ting and used it as a base for this green "miracle"
I do like it, and I had even been wearing it on my finger all day long yesterday.

10 August 2005

I have just found out that my sp have received a package from me. She says she likes it. I hope.

I didn't recieve mine yet. I hope it's on its way. is it? well.

I haven't been really crafty last 2-3 weeks. Did almost nothing... just one dress. I long for making things though. Soon.

Little worried

I'd like to know if my sp is alive...
Are you there?

My new pins

For my old pins collection.

More serious, but still on childhood topic, exept the temple (and the strings)

Beads and pins!

Simple and quick (it actually took me longer to remember how to do them, that to "itself do"),

And I really like the idea of beads on the pin!

It’s true – when I crochet – I make toys or something very simple (and I’m good in this). But now I want to try making some clothes. It seems to be rather expensive, because good yarn isn’t cheap and, crocheting big things will take a lot of time itself. But anyway, I’ll try. I think of making a top… don’t know… for a start, some kind of a top which isn’t going to take hours and hours of my life.

But sewing is still better – it much, much quicker. By the way, I’ve made a dress out of that “Chinese motive” fabric that very day I bought it. But it’s for home wearing only (because it was the very first dress I ever made and I’m not really happy with it.) I’ll try to modify it and then it may look better.

For a secret pal

So, this is how my 1st package to a secret pal will look like. I’ll mail it tomorrow. Wonder, when she’ll receive (it takes a while to "swim" overseas) it and if she likes it. Of course she won’t understand the magazines in Russian, but it has schemes, I hope she’ll be able to use them.

29 June 2005

23456It was a good day.

So, I did go shopping for my sp presents ideas. It was great. I’ll go to buy yarns for her tomorrow. I think of making “a red house bag” for her to put little items into it. I will be nice, won’t it?
7 This is a part, containing strings and beads (I’ll add more later). I think any craft person can think of a way to use strings, and my sp even mentioned she likes to make post-cards for relatives on holidays. She can tire everything :D

I guess I’m so exited because it’s my first time in sp system.

I wonder if it’s 1st or 2nd or 3rd or so on time for the pal, that’s sending stuff to me ;) And I wish I knew her name… and if she’s on (I’m (somehow) not) sp5 participant list… (winking ;)

Today's pictures.

(The idea of a doll is stolen (I can admit it :) from pics on Flickr)

Here she's sitting alone...not sad, - thinking and being happy...

Flowers from my garden, a bear from my shelf, a doll from my wall. Beauty!

Flower

A flower from my garden, a bear from my shelf - and everything on my hand!

Today's goods.

New fabric, coarse calico (as I translated in dictionary), usually is used for bed-sheets. :) It's really cheap. I'll sew a dress.

These are for bed-sheets. Presents for enemies (i meen as in bible - do good to people you "don't like"... well, here are my goods. Bought, made sheets, and gave away )

Some changes in design

I've made some changes to the design. I wonder, if they are well seen. It should be dark-green, green and light yellow on the background. (spend 2 hours yesterday to figure out how to change the html code... but next time it'll be much quicker!)
Also, added Flickr digest. And managed ring banners (this was hard). Still haven't been approved in any of them, but I'm hoping.

I finished presents for my russian blog readers, will show the picture later (it's a red house with a dragon, as on the previous post). Also I now have my secret pal to think about. But I'm almost ready to form a first package. I plan to go shoping for some yarns for her later tomorrow. But am not sure yet.

27 June 2005

New idea!

I saw such house bag on the cover for some Japanese book, and then on flickr. I decided to make one as a birthday present to a reader (well, I’ll need 2 houses like that, ‘couse I need 2 presents) of my Russian blog.
But I liked this one so much, that I decided to keep this very house for myself and make another for presents. :)

18 June 2005

Today I went shopping and brought home fabrics:
Today's fabrics like this and also some others.

Later, I set down to sew something out of them.

... These dragons (and the cat) appeared.
Dragons and a cat
(I always have problems with creating faces for my creautures)

And, after all,
Here they are, looking at the world, each other and me.
A dragon
Three on one stick
Hanging
And all ready
Dragons and the cat
I can say it's been a good night. Time for sleep now.

I'm in! Secret pal, I'm here.

So, I did it. I signed up to secret pal 5. I was late, but I’m in now!

Here is a questionnaire.
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
I’m not a snob, I use everything, but of course I prefer natural materials.
2. Do you spin? Crochet?
Unfortinatally I can’t spin, but I love crocheting (and sewing also) I’m 19 now, and had my first crochet teacher when I was 13. Then, being 14 I stoped “all my crafts” and only in 18 started again. Now crafting is my passion.
3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
No, no problems with that.
4. How long have you been knitting?
If in total, about 3 years. But I don’t knit clothes, - just toys, sometimes vases… Well, last year I made a hat and now I’m persuading myself to crochet a scarf.
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Well, I’m in Russia and it’s a problem for me to have a credit card (all that bank staff), so if I visit amazon, I stare at craftrelated items and become sad. So, I told myself not to visit. (although I looked for some Japanese craft books, just to catch ideas from covers.)
6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
Hhmm… I like fresh scents. Mint, tea-tree. Well, citrus is good too.
7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
No, I think I don’t. But I love chocolate.
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I do love sewing, gardening, and I also like making plasticine pictures… or felt ones.
… and, is playing the piano a “do-it-yourself” thing? Well, I finished music school, so I do.
9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I have a lot (a LOT) of mp3’s in my computer. I don’t like pop music. Classics, new age or electronic is better. I also do listen to folk (for exampe, Irish, celtic) music and to so-called neo-folk.
10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I like black, yeallow, green. I don’t like blue. Dark is ok, but not light blue. I can’t say if I like exacly bright of pastel shades, each day is different.
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I live with my mother, sometimes, I go to see my father J. I have a dog (you can see her with Cheburashka on the pic below), I also have a cat. I had fish, but now I don’t :)
12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
I am a teacher in our (with my mother) home school. Our school is names “Dream”. So, I must know a lot about them, don’t I? J So, I’d like to find a husband (oh, my!), to raise a child. And more importunately, I want to grow, - not to regress, I mean, but to develop myself and to just “progress”. I want to learn new things, in a whole.
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I don’t have any.
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
Hmm, can’t think of anything but syntactics.
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
To knit something difficult
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Easy ones :)
17. What are you knitting right now?
A vase-pot.
18. What do you think about ponchos?
Like them but not on myself
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
Oh, I can’t manage needles, just crochet… But I have many-many needles left from my grand mother. Use them as a pointer on lessons sometimes .
20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Ah! Love aluminum… and bamboo.
21. Are you a sock knitter?
Only for dolls. But my mother often tells me to make slippers… they are like short socks :)
22. How did you learn to knit?
As I said, I had a teacher. But that was long ago and after a break I had to teach myself. Used i-net tutorials.
23. How old is your oldest UFO?
What a pity, I don’t know what UFO is.
24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?
Animated character is Cheburashka and some other russian heros. And I like birds on a whole.
25. What is your favorite holiday?
New Year and Teacher’s day.
26. Is there anything that you collect?
I collect fabrics, yarns, but they seem to dissapear pretty fast. :)
I also collect notes for piano. Books and rare movies (I have a shelf with dvd’s). I also collect buttons and pins.

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
Don’t have any.
28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?
I love books. Craft ones… and just literature. I prefer serious books. J And I also read fairy-tales.
So, I'm waiting for my secret pal !!!

Hurray! I have it! Cheburashka… Just like in the cartoon. Very old, very nice.

I’m actually angry with Japanese people, ‘cause they act like that’s their toy, but it’s not. Everybody must know Cheburashka is an old Russian book and cartoon film character.

With my dog Marisabel :)

I've started making them so long ago, and I still refresh my memory with them, waching tv and crocketing.

So, I had about 20 bears like that. (and I still continue crocketing them, as I said) 'cause it's rather fast, easy, fun, and nice looking in the end.

Some of them were used as a New Year's gifts for readers of my russian blog.

These are the toys, one old woman gave me as a present... They are made in USSR times. The Bear is about 50-60 years old (if you "knock" at him, you'll understand is't made of wood and is empty inside), the Donkey is about 30 and the Rabbit and the Dog are little bit younger.
What can I say?! - I love them!
